Check out these two good examples of 1981 Katana 1100's. Known in Australia as Bathurst models, they came out with wire wheels, 19 inch front
and 18 inch rear.
These bikes were legends in their day and are still feared on the road.
The black one, owned by a mate, has been customised and the grey one, owned by myself, is original. |

The SXZ was a rare model made for NZ (20 only, although I believe another batch was made for South Africa), for the Castrol 6 Hour race in
1982. They have racing cams and clutch, Larger slide carbs, wire wheels, special big bore exhausts, better brake callipers and steel braided brake lines. Mine has had a nuts and
bolts restoration and is better than new (apart from the seat, which is original and a little jaded). |

I have a New Zealand built racing homologation Katana 1100 SXZ back home. Pic is not so great sorry. These models had Wire wheels, braided
front lines with earlier "D" shaped GS1100 front callipers, slide carbs, higher lift cams (I think they are Pops stage 1?), heavier clutch plates etc and I believe they
are rated at 120 HP ?? as opposed to the 111 HP standard. |
