Benjamin Drake
Woking, England
This is the bike that I rode away from home on, taking it to ride around the nations capital, London.
When I first saw it I was struck with its profile. Around the roads in Dorset it was great fun. For the first time I could take to the dual carriageway and high exposed roads and
not be bothered by the crosswinds and traffic that plagued me when I had a Honda MTX125.
It definitely has character!
A loose screw in the indicator unit meant that sometimes the horn would sometimes go off of its own accord. The bike has a custom alloy eccentric cam swing arm. Braided steel brake
lines means that it is incredibly responsive.
Around London everyone looked as I purred around town on my Black Kat.
I was getting a tyre checked and another punter stopped me to ask if it was a Suzi Bandit. 'Nah, mate. That's a GS550 Katana'. |

This is one of the last pictures I took of my GS550M Katana before Mr. 4x4 knocked it over. I’m still waiting for the insurance company to
pay up :o( After tarting my Katana up, I decided to hire a model (glamour model that is) and take some snaps. This is probably the best one you can show on the site, but there are
better ones!
My other bike is a GSX1100F, which is great on long journeys, but I still prefer the Katana, its nicer to ride, looks great and gets more attention when I park it up. |
