Subject: German Market '82 Katana GSX 400 E (GK 53 C)

I live in North Carolins in the USA and purchased a German market '82 GSX 400 E recently and love the classic lines of this Kat. Getting parts is proving a headache though, as this model bike wasn't released in the U.S. and bike shops won't look for parts their databases don't toss out easy to them. Both the Speedometer and Tachometer on this lady need to be replaced. She's far better than a beater and I want to treat her right. I don't care if the Speedo is in US miles, Km or any other form of measurement. I'd just like to get my Kat back on the road. Does anyone have suggestions for parts suppliers for this bike? The weather is great and I'm online instead of on the road! Pity me and let me know!

The original German title lists the model as a: GK 53 C
The Serial Number is: GK53CD101909

You say GSX 400E So it is a twin cyl? with kat styling so it's a GSX400EZ
Parts are the same as the gsx250/400 ET , less body panels . The UK ebay site will produce stuff for this , but don't add Katana as you will narrow the search to much.
If it is the 4 cyl then you have a GSX400F which named Katana only in Germany and shares the stuff you need with later GS 550/650.

fossie - You're right on. It's the Kat styled GSX400E (Which may be known as an EZ, though this always confused me) with twin cyl. I do notice that the Instrument console seems to match the US GS 550/650 as well - but that's based on appearance and not part numbers. I'll keep trawling the ebay listings, but with more confidence in the UK listings for the bike. Thanks.

G'day Clark,
Don't let the "EZ" designation bamboozle you... the "Z" is simply Suzuki's year code for 1982.
Mike.
