it turns over but wont start,i have check
fuel going into carbs ok but still wont start it is 1981 katana please can any one help. |

C'mon Gordon, give us a clue!
I've not been on here for ages but the questions are still the same.
Have you got a Haynes, factory or Clymer workshop manual? If not, go and get one as there are checklists to follow if your bike won't start.
You've checked the fuel going to the carbs but is the fuel going through the carbs and wetting the plugs.
Are you getting sparks at the plugs?
Was the bike running fine before?
Does it need a service or have the valve clearances been checked lately?
There are a hundred reasons for a bike not running so please, give a bit of additional info so that you can help us to help you!

If it's turning over and it's getting fuel, then here's my attempt to enumerate Deeds' hundred reasons for a bike not running (just to show he's not exaggerating)...
1. stale fuel
2. stuffed coil
3. borderline battery
4. dodgy earth
5. old plugs
6. fouled plugs
7. worn rings
8. leaking headgasket
9. burnt valve(s)
10. stuck valve(s)
11. valve clearances have closed up too much
12. shorting plug lead(s)
13. carb bowls full of sediment
14. water in the fuel
15. blocked carbie jet(s)
16. faulty choke operation
17. perished inlet manifolds
18. busted cam chain
19. broken starter gear
20. sheared rotor bolts
21. valve timing incorrect
22. spark timing incorrect
23. poor electrical connection just about anywhere
24. dead ignitor
25. dead hamster in the exhaust
