Hello chaps,
I need to get inside my speedometer on my 1100.I have had a tentative prise on the needles but got a bit worried as the pressure increased.Do they flick off or screw off or some clever oriental means. They must come off as I know aftermarket faces can be put on.Do they break them off & put new needles on?

Hey Roy the needles pull or prise off sometimes they fly off and break other times the can pull the shafts out of the speedo or tacho, but mostly they slowly lift off. I use two teaspoons and lever off the small black screws securing the gauges to the face , It does take a little practice , I also use the humble tea spoon to prise the aluminium surround off and use it to press it back into shape when reinstalling, if unsure feel free to make contact , regards Rob

Ah, good to see that the dark arts of speedo dismantling are alive and well. One day I'll get around to replacing my busted tacho needle, and when I do I'll be giving you a buzz Rob.
Cheers,
Mike.

Hi Roy, Be careful forcing the needles of, I tried the two tea spoons worked on tacho and snapped shaft on speedo. gutted ruined the speedo. you could just pull the needles of the balck plastic thing then glue new ones on, that's what I will do next time
