I have being trying to balance my stock carbs on my '82 1100. The workshop manual is of limited assistance as they doing it using suzuki special tool #xyz. I have guages on my balancing tool. What vacuums should I be trying to set the out side two carbs to as they are different to the inside to?
Thanks Gents.

its more important that all 4 are the same rather than that they are a specific setting. service the bike first, cos carbs are the last thing you should do. then balance the carbs in the following order. remember that sitting on the bike number 1 is the left hand side cylinder, the one nearest the fuel tap. ok, balance carbs 1 and 2 so that they are the same setting. next balance carbs 3 and 4 so that they are the same. finally use the centre adjuster to balance the two pairs of carbs (1+2 and 3+4) together.
carb 2 is the baseline carb, so it cant be adjusted. hence you set 1 to match 2, then 3 to match 4, then the two pairs to match each other.

#3 is the fixed carb (on the 650).
I do 4 to the same as 3, 1 to the same as 2, then the middle screw to bring the left pair into line with the right pair.

With a stock airbox, it does say allow a little more (one line) on the outside cylinders, but if you've other filters (or open carbs) they can be all level.

I use these gauges, so if the centre two were at 18, the outside two would be at 20.
