Hi All

What is the easiest way to replace the fork oil. I think it is possible to drain all the oil via the small screws on the lower fork. Can I just to up via the top of the forks under the adjuster?

Regards
Lucas

Yes, you can get most of the oil out by draining it via the small screws. Then you just top it up by unscrewing the caps on the top of the forks -- taking care on the last few turns that the spring inside doesn't fling the heavy cap out of your fingers and onto the tank... :-/

Do one fork at a time, so that the front end always has some fork spring pressure to hold it up, otherwise when you undo the second cap the front end will 'collapse' and likely tip your machine on its side.

Finally, if your bike is on in years (as most of ours are) I recommend thicker fork oil than recommended -- eg. 20W -- because the fork internals will have inevitably worn a bit, and you'll need the thicker oil to compensate for the wear, so that you end up with acceptable damping.

Cheers,
Mike.

Thanks Mike. 20w sounds like a very hard ride, what is it like?
